Xidig began as a conversation between diaspora engineers, merchants, and operators who shared a single frustration: Why is there no institutional vehicle to back Somali ventures?
The answer was always the same: "No one trusts the system."
So we built a new one.
The Origin
In late 2024, a small group of founders, investors, and community organizers began meeting in London, Mogadishu, and Hargeisa. The question was simple:
"What if we treated the diaspora like a sovereign wealth fund?"
We mapped out the mechanics: a community-managed investment vehicle, Labs to incubate ventures, and a transparent ledger to track every dollar. By early 2025, the architecture was clear. Xidig wasn't just a platform—it was a financial system.
Who Built This?
Xidig was shaped by a distributed team of 12 contributors across product, strategy, operations, and legal. They come from backgrounds in venture capital, blockchain infrastructure, diaspora finance, and community organizing.

The Team Structure
Xidig is organized around roles, not hierarchy:
- •Operators: Execute on the ground (launch ventures, manage logistics).
- •Researchers: Vet opportunities and build business cases.
- •Advisors: Provide domain expertise (legal, finance, technical).
- •Stewards: Govern the platform (ensure compliance, resolve disputes).
These roles are filled by Verified Members—contributors who have been vetted by the community.
Why Anonymous (For Now)?
Some of our contributors are operating in fragile environments where public association with a financial platform could create risk. Others simply prefer to let the work speak first.
Once the platform is live and the first ventures are funded, we'll make formal introductions. Until then, the focus is on shipping—not profiles.
What's Next?
We're launching in Q1 2026. This is not a startup. This is a movement to build sovereign wealth from the ground up.
